VIENNA FILM AWARD
The Vienna Film Award, endowed by the City of Vienna and presented as part of the Viennale, honors a contemporary Austrian feature film that was released during the past year. The award consists of a cash prize provided by the City of Vienna’s Department of Cultural Affairs, complemented by financial support from Hotel The Harmonie Vienna. In addition to the award for Best Austrian Film, the Vienna Film Award also includes a Special Jury Prize.
This year, the jury of the Vienna Film Award once again brings together distinguished figures from the fields of art, film, and festival culture: Astrid Peterle, Chief Curator of MuseumsQuartier Wien; Hilde Dalik, actress for film, television, and theatre; and Daniel Ebner, curator and long-standing festival director of Vienna Shorts.
FIPRESCI PRIZE
FIPRESCI, the International Federation of Film Critics, celebrated its 100th anniversary last year. The organization is dedicated to upholding journalistic ethics and representing the professional interests of its members. FIPRESCI members come from all over the world and serve on small juries at numerous film festivals, where they present the International Critics’ Prize. As at the Viennale, they typically select the winner from a group of first and second feature films by emerging filmmakers.
DER STANDARD – VIENNALE – AUDIENCE AWARD
DER STANDARD once again organizes the Audience Jury Prize this year. The jurors select a film from the festival lineup that has not yet secured Austrian distribution. Should the awarded film later obtain a local distributor, DER STANDARD supports its release with complimentary advertising space in the newspaper.
ERSTE BANK FILM AWARD
For the 16th time, Erste Bank is awarding the Erste Bank Film Award as part of the Viennale. The award recognizes Austrian feature-length and short films presented in the festival program. Through this award, Erste Bank honours outstanding artistic achievements and underscores its long-term commitment to the sustainable promotion of Austrian filmmaking in an international context. The recipient is selected by an independent jury. This year, the jury consists of Silvia Bohrn, Christine Dollhofer and Sebastian Höglinger.
